Somerville police in cooperation with the police force of Tufts University are investigating anti-Semitic graffiti that was discovered on the college campus on Saturday according to Somerville Patch.

Tufts University Police were called to Lewis Hall on campus Saturday morning for a report that someone had painted several swastikas on the Power House Boulevard side of the dorm.

The graffiti was “very similar” to the anti-Semitic graffiti found on campus and in nearby Somerville in late November, according to Tufts Police.

Somerville Police, in cooperation with Tufts Police, are investigating the incident.

Patch reports that Somerville Mayor Joseph  Curtatone released the following statement:

“There is no place in Somerville, a city that prides itself on diversity and inclusion, for cowardly acts of hatred such as this. I thank the Tufts University administration and their police for quickly responding to this despicable act. Somerville Police and our Human Rights Commission will provide any resources necessary for the investigation.”

In October, Tufts University hosted the national conference for the anti-Semitic campus group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). SJP is best known for comparing Israel to Nazi Germany and its encouragement of anti-Semitism.
