Press Release: Leading Watchdog Group Releases List of “Top Ten Schools Supporting Terrorists”

Brooklyn College, Tufts, UC-Irvine, and University of Tennessee Made the List

SHERMAN OAKS, CA – Brooklyn College, Tufts, Vassar College, UCLA and UC-Berkeley are among 10 American colleges and universities cited by the David Horowitz Freedom Center as the “Top Ten Schools Supporting Terrorists” in a report released today. These schools provide “financial and institutional support” to Students for Justice in Palestine and other organizations on their campuses that “support the agendas of these terrorists and spread their propaganda lies.”

In alphabetical order, the ten campuses are: Brooklyn College (CUNY), San Diego State University, San Francisco State University, Tufts University, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Irvine, University of California, Los Angeles, University of Chicago, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Vassar College.

“Students for Justice in Palestine functions as the most prominent pro-terrorist, anti-Jewish organization in America, and provides a key recruiting tool for terrorists in the Middle East who are seeking to obliterate the only democracy in the Middle East and its Jews,” observes Freedom Center founder David Horowitz. “This presence of a genocidal, terrorist support movement on elite campuses across America is probably the most under-reported story of our times. We are publishing this report to put a spotlight on these American college campuses most supportive of these sinister activities, which put not only our ally Israel in danger, but our homeland as well.”

The pro-terrorist group, “Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), portrays itself as a typical student organization advocating ‘social justice’ in the Middle East, but in fact SJP’s propaganda activities are orchestrated and funded by the terrorist organization Hamas through an intermediary group, American Muslims for Palestine, whose principals are Hamas agents, as revealed in the Holy Land Foundation trial.

The Holy Land Foundation was convicted of funneling charitable contributions to Hamas. American Muslims for Palestine, whose principals were also principals in the Holy Land Foundation, was created by Hatem Bazian, a pro-Hamas professor at UC Berkeley who is also the co-founder of SJP.

Hamas is a State Department designated terrorist organization whose explicit goals, as stated in its charter, are the destruction of the Jewish state, and the extermination of its Jews.

In recent testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Jonathan Schanzer, a terrorism finance analyst for the United States Department of the Treasury from 2004-2007, described AMP as “arguably the most important sponsor and organizer for Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), which is the most visible arm of the BDS campaign on campuses in the United States” and explained that “AMP spent $100,000 on campus activities in 2014 alone.”

SJP is the chief promoter of the Hamas-inspired and funded Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, a genocidal effort to strangle Israel’s democracy and make it vulnerable to its enemies. Among SJP’s many activities in the service of Hamas is its sponsorship of “Israeli Apartheid” weeks featuring Hamas and BDS supporters as campus speakers and advancing the patently false claims that Israel is illegally occupying Arab Palestine and is a racist state like South Africa and deserves to be destroyed. In fact, there never was a state called Palestine, and the State of Israel was created by the United Nations, not out of land that belonged to the Arabs, but out of land that belonged to the Turks for 400 years until they joined the losing side in World War I. Far from being an apartheid state, Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, and the only one tolerant of its minority communities. The million-plus Arabs who are Israeli citizens have more rights than the Arabs of any other Middle Eastern state, including the territories of the West Bank and Gaza.
