Stop the Jew Hatred on Campus: A Student Guide
www.stopthejewhatredoncampus.org
March 7-11, 2016
Introduction:
On college campuses across America, hatred and bigotry directed at Jews is at an all time high. From swastikas appearing on Jewish fraternity houses to mock “apartheid walls” which disseminate mendacious Hamas propaganda, from anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions resolutions to angry and sometimes violent attempts to shut down pro-Israel speakers, America’s universities have become a new fount of Jew hatred which then leeches into our broader culture.
If this hostility targeted any other ethnic or religious minority, students and administrators would be up in arms, calling for disciplinary hearings, sensitivity training and the like. Yet campus authorities, typically known for their rush to accommodate campus minorities, have done little or nothing to protect the Jewish students under their charge.
This Jew hatred is fomented by campus organizations that support the terrorist regimes in Gaza and the West bank, and spread lies about the Jewish state. Chief among these lies is the claim that the Jews “stole” Arab land to create the state of Israel. The hatred springing from this lie is epitomized by the recent comments on social media of UCLA student Lisa Marie Mendez, who is also an employee at the UCLA Medical Center:
“F**king Jews. GTFOH with all your Zionist bullshit.Crazy ass f**king troglodyte albino monsters of cultural destruction.F**king Jews.GTFOH with your whiny bullshit. Give the Palestinians back their land, go back to Poland or whatever freezer-state you’re from, and realize that faith does not constitute race.”
As appalling as these comments are, they represent only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Jew hatred on campus. A recent study from the Brandeis Center for Human Rights found that more than half of nearly 1,200 Jewish students surveyed at 55 campuses nationwide reported having experienced or witnessed anti-Semitism on campus during the last year.
To counter this hatred and defend Jewish students, the David Horowitz Freedom Center is organizing a campaign this spring titled Stop the Jew Hatred on Campus (www.stopthejewhatredoncampus.org), which will take aim at the four big lies which underpin the modern architecture of anti-Semitism and Jew Hatred.
Four Lies About the Jewish State
Spread by the Terrorists and Their Campus Allies
The claim that Israel occupies Palestinian land is a lie:
Israel was created on land ceded by the Turks after their defeat in World War I. The Turks are not “Palestinians” and are not even Arabs. The Jews did not “occupy" even the Turkish land.[1] The U.N. created Israel on land that was also used by the victorious powers in WWI to create the modern boundaries of Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan.[2] It was land that had belonged to the former Ottoman Empire for 400 years until their defeat in World War I. Native Americans have a more recent claim on the United States than the Arabs have on the land around the Jordan on which Israel was created.
The claim that Israel is an apartheid state is a lie:
There are over a million Palestinians who are Israeli citizens[3] who enjoy more rights than the Palestinians who live in Gaza and the West Bank.[4] Every measure taken to separate Palestinians from Israelis is dictated by the fact that for 67 years, since 1948, the Arabs have waged an unprovoked terror war against Israel’s Jews.[5]
The claim that Palestinians want a state for themselves is a lie:
Beginning in 1948, when they were first offered a state of their own, and again in 2000 and 2008, the Palestinians have rejected these offers in favor of a terrorist war.[6] What the terrorist governments of the West Bank and Gaza want – and clearly state as their goal – is the destruction of the Jewish state and an ethnic cleansing of the Jews from the Middle East.[7]
The claim that Palestinians are victims of Israel is a lie.
Every injury suffered by Palestinians is a direct result of the 67-year war of aggression against the Jews, and the collective decisions of the Palestinians to elect terrorist regimes in the West Bank and Gaza.[8]

These four lies give cover to campus anti-Semites who use them to claim that they are only interested in rectifying injustices perpetrated on the Palestinians and in gaining for them a state of their own. It is only by dispelling these lies, and proving them false, that we can reveal that baseless Jew hatred, absent all noble intentions, lies at the heart of anti-Israel activism on campus.
Join us in a series of teach-ins this spring called “Stop the Jew Hatred on Campus” whose purpose is to raise student awareness and combat the anti-Jewish and pro-terrorist propaganda on American campuses. The time has come to end the use of our universities as staging grounds for campaigns of hatred aimed at the Jews and their homeland, Israel. The time has come to Stop the Jew Hatred on Campus.
Stop The Jew Hatred on Campus
During the coming spring term, from March 7-11, 2016, the David Horowitz Freedom Center will be holding a series of “Stop the Jew Hatred on Campus” teach-ins. These events will raise student awareness about Jew hatred and anti-Semitism, and will combat the genocidal Hamas propaganda which has become a familiar presence on American campuses.
These teach-ins will feature speakers such as David Horowitz, Daniel Pipes, Richard Cravatts and others who can expose the truth about Jew hatred on campus and the steps we must take to thwart it. Participating students may also distribute literature, organize campus film screenings, participate in postering campaigns and hold silent vigils outside the campus offices of Students for Justice in Palestine (one of the chief instigators of campus Jew hatred) to raise awareness of these pressing concerns.
A campus teach-in can be shaped to fit any schedule and budget. Some campuses may choose to hold larger events such as hosting panel discussions or keynote speakers while others may simply set up an information booth to distribute literature or hold a film screening. Whatever your budget and schedule, we want to work with you and support you.
We are planning to hold multiple teach-ins at campuses all across the country during the 2016 spring term. We hope to concentrate these events during a one-week window from March 7-11, so as to garner the maximum possible media attention, but if these dates don’t work for you, you can still hold a teach-in at a time that works for your group.
Join with this growing campus movement to expose and confront Jew Hatred on Campus and the campus hate groups responsible for perpetuating it.
To get involved today, email Lonny@horowitzfreedomcenter.orgor visit www.stopthejewhatredoncampus.orgfor more information and ammunition to fight Jew hatred on campus.
Ways to Participate:
1. Invite a Speaker or Host a Panel on Jew Hatred on Campus:
We’ve compiled a dynamic roster of speakers who will tell the truth about campus Jew Hatred and the climate of hostility and intolerance Jewish and pro-Israel students face at their colleges and universities. Have another idea for a speaker? Call us and we can discuss it and see if we can make it happen.
Make sure to submit a formal request to your student activities office or student government to fund a speaker or teach-in on Jew hatred on campus. A denial of your request for student activities funding—particularly if these funds have been used to fund anti-Israel or anti-Semitic speakers in the past—could focus attention on the message of the teach-ins and might be used to generate publicity for the events themselves. If your organization does not have funds to bring in a keynote speaker, we have several low or no-cost ways to participate in the campaign including hosting a film screening and distributing literature on campus.
Possible speakers on “Stop the Jew Hatred on Campus”:
Dr. Richard Cravatts
Dr. Richard Cravatts is the president of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East, an organization dedicated to assisting college faculty in developing effective responses to the ideological distortions—including anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist slanders—that poison debate and work against peace. - Throughout the 1990’s, Charles’ American Anti-Slavery Group brought international attention to the enslavement of Africans in Sudan by Islamist Khartoum regime. Charles flew -- illegally -- into South Sudan severally times to help redeem thousands of African slaves from Arab masters. For this, he was presented with the first Boston Freedom Award by Mayor Thomas Menino and Coretta Scott King.
- In 2002, Charles co-founded The David Project, which prepared students in over 100 Jewish high schools to make Israel’s case on campus.
Today, Charles’ Americans for Peace and Tolerance exposes and combats anti-Israel professors and text books on campuses and in high schools. Northeastern University dismissed three anti-Israel staff members after APT released its video exposes.

2. Hold a Silent Vigil Outside the Campus Offices of Students for Justice in Palestine:
A silent vigil is a powerful way to raise awareness of anti-Semitic propaganda and threats on campus. Students for Justice in Palestine is the lead instigator behind Jew hatred and Israel-bashing on campus and so we urge you to hold a silent vigil outside their campus offices to protest their use of student fee monies to promote Jew hatred.
You should also use this protest to formally issue the demand to your administration that the campus privileges for SJP (or whatever name your campus anti-Israel group has adopted), including their funding and access to student union offices, be rescinded.
A day or two before your vigil, send a press release to your campus newspaper and other local media describing when and where the protest will occur. Include information about SJP’s anti-Semitic propaganda including documentation of speakers they have brought to campus, pictures of mock “apartheid walls,” any record of threats or violence directed at Jewish students, etc.
Come to the vigil prepared with a printed list of your demands for your campus president or chancellor and make sure to also email these demands to the president’s office.
We have created a series of placards describing how SJP uses its student funding and campus privileges to spread lies about Israel and the Jews. These placards are available in the “Resources” section of our website.
Print out copies of these placards and display them at your silent vigil, either by holding them, or by affixing them to the wall nearby. You may customize these placards to fit the specific actions of SJP on your campus.
Please make sure to remain peaceful even if SJP members or others provoke you. We encourage you to abide by the rules and regulations of your college or university when holding a vigil or silent protest. Bring a camera with video capability, both to capture images of your vigil that we can use in media coverage and to record any angry comments or physical aggression directed at your vigil.
If you are planning to hold a vigil or silent protest, please contact our office at info@stopthejewhatredoncampus.org or email Lonny at Lonny@horowitzfreedomcenter.org.
3. Hold a Demonstration Featuring the “Four Lies” on Campus
The “Four Lies” featured above underpin Jew Hated on campus. It is imperative that we reveal these lies for the falsehoods they are in order to draw back the humanitarian mask worn by campus anti-Semites who claim that their goal is to defend the Palestinian victims of Israel.
If you are interested in holding a campus demonstration with the “Four Lies,” possibly to counter a pro-Palestinian protest such as “Israeli Apartheid Week” or a mock “apartheid wall,” please contact Lonny in our office at Lonny@horowitzfreedomcenter.org and he can provide you with large print-outs of the Lies to display.
We will also send you copies of our many pamphlets highlighting Israel’s role as a victim in the Middle East and how it is exploited by campus Jew haters.
Then set up a table at a central location on campus (make sure you request the appropriate permits if necessary) and display the “Four Lies” while distributing literature to your fellow students and engaging them in conversation. Make sure to have a camera with video capability on hand to record pictures and video of any heated exchanges or incidents.
4. Distribute Pamphlets
Reveal the truth about the Jew Hatred on campus and the true origins and goals of campus groups like MSA and SJP by distributing provocative and informative booklets to your campus community. Browse through the list of pamphlets below and order copies of any or all of them to be delivered to your campus mailbox for free.
Then set up a table at a central location on campus (make sure you request the appropriate permits if necessary) and distribute literature to your fellow students. Make sure to have a camera with video capability on hand to record pictures and video of any heated exchanges or incidents.

5. Screen a film
Organizing a campus film screening is one of the most cost-effective ways to promote awareness of Jew Hatred on campus. A film screening can also provide the backdrop for a discussion of the issues showcased in the film and is a good occasion to distribute literature. Films available for screening are listed below.
Make sure to reserve a room equipped with the necessary audio-visual equipment and to publicize the screening through campus bulletin boards and social media.
Possible films include:
Crossing the Line II: The New Face of Anti-Semitism on Campus
Crossing The Line II is a powerful 30-minute film exposing the growing anti-Israel sentiment taking root on college campuses across North America, including its connection to Islamic Jihad. It is available online and for campus screenings. If you would like to hold a screening of this film, please let us know and we can send you materials to accompany your event.
To request Crossing the Line II or for more information on holding a film screening, please contact Yoni Mann at yoni@jerusalemU.org. Please also email Lonny at Lonny@horowitzfreedomcenter.org to let us know that you plan to hold a screening on your campus.
You may also screen several shorter videos on subjects related to Jew hatred on campus which are available online and conduct a discussion afterwards.
